Sharp Eyes QNET’s Network of Direct Sellers to Market its New Air Purifier

Pune 20 Nov 2017: Sharp, the global leader in innovative air purifiers has joined hands with leading Asian direct selling company QNet to launch a unique, feature packed newproduct, the SHARP-QNet ZENsational Air Purifier in India.
The partnership reflects an evolving trend of consumer goods companies testing the direct selling model to boost sales and expand their market presence. The co-branded airpurifier is the second product partnership between QNet and Sharp. The earlier model SHARP-QNet Plasmacluster® Air Purifier was one of QNet’s top selling products in recent years in India.
The new SHARP-QNet ZENsational Air Purifier has Sharp’s patented Plasmacluster® ion technology, an integrated humidifier, and 7 Intelligent-Detection Modes, the first of its kind in this category. Priced at Rs.88,950 the air purifier has an intelligent sensor system that monitors and indicates the dust, odour, haze, temperature and humidity conditions of the room. Based on the requirement, the sensors detect the need and automatically adjust the function, resulting in energy efficiency.
QNet has entered into strategic alliances with leading global and local brands as a part of the company’s strategy to provide niche, life-enhancing products for its customer base in India, particularly in the health and wellness segments. QNet has also recently tied up with Kent RO Systems to launch a new state-of-the-art water purifier.
Sharp seeks to leverage QNet’s distribution channel comprising a strong network of over 3 lakh distributors spread across metros, and Tier 1 and 2 cities for the new air purifier.
“Lack of awareness about indoor air pollution is a major challenge in India. Just because you stay indoors, it does not mean you are protected from the impact of air pollution. Toaddress this, we are investing in innovative marketing strategies. Direct selling with its personal touch and relationship based marketing approach is a great way to create awareness and educate the consumer about the health hazards of poor indoor air quality and allow people to make the healthy choice for their families from the comfort of their homes”, said Shinji Minatogawa, Managing Director, Sharp Business Systems India Private Limited.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Trevor Kuna, Global CEO, QNet, said, “Our partnership with Sharp conforms to our focus on making available exclusive and high quality products for our customers in India in the health and wellness segments.  We are confident based on our past experience with Sharp, and the current state of air quality in India, that the Sharp-QNet ZENsational Air Purifier will help our customers find a solution to a growing problem many of them are facing.”
Commenting on the health benefits and effectiveness of indoor air purifiers, Dr. Vivek Nangia, from the Department of Pulmonology at Fortis Hospital in New Delhi says, “Several research documents and field trials have proven the effectiveness of Air Purifier at homes or other indoor spaces. With every breath some pollutant or the other enters our body, bombarding our immune system thus affecting our health. If we can reduce the intake of toxic pollutants by breathing clean and fresh air at least while we are sleeping, inflammation can be reduced which in turn reduces sick days. Air Purifiers can be more effective if used for a longer duration of time and at a stretch. Hence an office space or bedroom is ideal for deployment of an air purifier”.
According to the FICCI-KPMG Report ‘Direct 2016-The Contribution of Direct Selling to Building India’ the advent of the Direct Selling Guidelines in 2016 and their expected ratification will “boost growth and motivate more and more domestic and global companies to join the sector and opt for direct selling as a preferred distribution channel.”
The report adds that direct selling in India is likely to become a Rs 645 billion industry by 2025 with the right policy initiatives.
